Film Marketing (Holiday Homework)

I had closely researched into the marketing of the film 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part II' and this is because I feel it would have been one of the most marketed films in which was recently released. I had researched closely into how marketing products work together in order to promote the films more successfully and also how they use continuity and the reasons behind the techniques of the ways in which they market. I had created both a prezi and a powerpoint on the different features of marketing and how successful the film had been in terms of promotion and generally. The first poster for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows was released in March with a wider range then being released as a follow up revealing more about who is in the cast, yet the one thing in which they all had in common was the caption 'it all ends' followed by the release date '7.15' thus showing mystery and creating a buzz amongst the audience as they are questioning what is to come, and whether it actually will be the last of the sequence of movies. The trailer however, is very similar to the print products in terms of costume, props, locations and characters. Looking closely at the trailer it says that '3D' is coming to cinemas suggesting that there is no budget, thus meaning it is a mainstream film and fans would also go to see this also. Another way in which the movie gained attention was through the use of interviews with the actors themselves about what is to come and  this releases a little more information each time but not enough to spoil the movie, more to create a buzz and a wider 'word of mouth' effect. The premiere of the film was also posted on YouTube where the characters are discussing all the movies in which they had been in suggesting that it is actually then end of it all.
